Top 12 Luxury Handbags For 2008
|
Handbags, indeed have long become the top accessory for women in this day and age, and quite a number of new brands and designs are popping out here and there. Hence, the greater challenge it embarks to all designers to come up with styles exceptional enough for the indulgent consumers.
The Luxury Institute of New York has came up with a list of 26 of the luxury handbag designer brands and
ranked them based on their popularity. “There are so many names in the luxury handbag market today, which tells me that they have to work to stand out — the wealthier the consumers are, the more unique they want the bag to be,” said Milton Pedraza, CEO of the Luxury Institute. “As far as the status goes, this is probably one of the most important fashion categories — it’s the only one that really shows off who you are, no matter how you are dressed.”
A survey called “Handbag Brands 2008″ was conducted to almost 800 consumers with an average net worth of $2.2 million. This was part of the larger Luxury Brand Status Index that evaluate quality, uniqueness, social status and self enhancement.
The survey came up with the Top 12 Most Popular Luxury Handbag Brands for 2008.
1. Coach - 76%
2. Louis Vuitton - 63%
3. Gucci - 61%
4. Dooney & Bourke - 56%
5. Prada - 54%
6. Kate Spade - 48%
7. Burberry - 47%
8. Fendi - 45%
9. Chanel - 45%
10. Ralph Lauren - 45%
11. Dolce & Gabbana - 37%
12. Hermes - 36%
Assuming that New York Luxury Institute’s survey within the high society figures is accurate, it appears that Coach, Gucci and Louis Vuitton has outshined the rest of the designer brands.
